Looks
Great - Costs Less
|
| What
to expect Cabin grade Cedar usually has characteristics that made it Cabin grade or Mill 2nds instead of Select Tight Knot grade. You might encounter some split ends, wane, or unsound knots. Virtually all of the pieces can be used successfully with some caulking or trimming. You buy more material than if using high grade, but at a much lower cost. |

Buy
some extra It is a good practice to purchase an extra amount to allow for trim loss. It is just a matter of a greater degree of trim loss and the utilization of shorter lengths overall with Cabin grade than with Select Knotty grade. |
| Saw
a little, Save a lot
- One happy homeowner told us: “When all was said and done, I saved a little over a thousand dollars on my wood. I spent two days trimming the siding and sorting it to lengths. I figure I paid myself about $65 an hour to to that. I’ll do that again any day.” |
